This spring, put your best foot forward

What’s so wonderful about walking?

Walking is low impact, which means it’s kinder to your joints, and is actually better at fat burning than some higher intensity sports. It’s good for all your muscles, including your heart, and can help ease stress and anxiety. Just by walking, you can reduce your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, too.

Get motivated in the great outdoors

Set yourself a realistic goal – try to fit a walk in after your lunch or evening meal. You could use a pedometer or an app like Map My Walk on your smartphone to track your progress. If you prefer the company of others, ask a friend to join you or look out for local walking groups. Whatever you prefer, it’s all about getting out in the great outdoors.
