Tories lead in house price stakes

Living in a constituency controlled by the Conservatives means that equity release schemes could put more money in your pocket.
Research from property website Zoopla.co.uk shows that average prices in Tory areas are over £250,000 (£257,518), compared to less than £230,000 (£228,880) in Lib Dem ones and sub-£170,000 (£168,112) in Labour territory.
Since Labour came to power in 1997, houses in Lib Dem regions have increased in price by 190 per cent. Tory areas have increased by 179 per cent, and Labour by 177 per cent.
These growth figures will be of interest to people looking at a home reversion plan, as these allow the homeowner to benefit from any increase in the value of their house.
