SHIP: look beyond the election

Politicians should be looking beyond the election and seriously consider how to move forward with the issue of Britain's ageing population, according to SHIP.
The equity release providers' trade body has drawn up its own three point plan of action to help tackle the problem.
They believe that financial education should be taught from an early age, in order to introduce people to the concepts of savings, mortgages and equity release schemes. Consumers should also be encouraged to seek consultation on any queries they have.
Finally, SHIP believes that co-operation between the retirement industry and new government is vital to long-term success.
By doing so, SHIP Director General Andrea Rozario states that whoever is in power after the election "will have a better understanding of equity release and the possibilities it offer".
