Retirement worries eased by equity release?

Over a third (36 per cent) of Britons who search for financial advice are looking for help about how to plan for their retirement, new figures show.

With retirement and pensions a big election issue, the results from unbiased.co.uk won’t come as much of a surprise. Investment and savings issues come second on the list with 29 per cent of the total.

Both of these groups could look towards equity release as a means to ease their financial worries.

There are a variety of equity release schemes that they could look into, such as drawdown lifetime mortgages or a home reversion plan. Both allow the householder to stay in their home, but make the most of the equity
