New minister good for equity release

The appointment of the new pensions minister has been praised by a former government advisor as he has years of experience in the retirement field, which includes equity release.
Ros Altmann believes that Steve Webb's experience of five years as shadow pensions minister will set him in good stead to "deal with the pensions crisis as effectively and quickly as possible".
Dr Altmann calls for Mr Webb to make pensions fair for women and make public sector pensions more fair and transparent, two things that he has pledged to do in the past.
Whilst these changes could all happen in future, an equity release scheme is something that homeowners can get now to boost their finances in retirement.
A lifetime mortgage or a home reversion plan will allow householders to extract some of their home's value without the need to sell the property.
