House prices rose in April, which is great news for the equity release market.

New figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) show that 17 per cent more of their members saw house prices go up than go down. By comparison, the figure for March was just 9 per cent.

London once again proves to be the place where equity release can garner the most money, as 55 per cent more of RICS members saw prises rise than fall.

There is optimism for the rest of the year too, as RICS expect a bounce now that the general election is out of the way.

Their members have now upped their estimates for house price and house sales growth for the rest of the year, providing potentially more good news for those with equity release schemes.ADNFCR-3040-ID-19772326-ADNFCR
