House sales grow steadily

March saw 72,000 homes sold around the UK, which will be good news for those looking to enter into an equity release scheme.
This figure, released by HM Revenue & Customs, saw a 22 per cent increase on the February amount. It is also 24 per cent higher than in March last year.
This is expected to continue according to the Bank of England, who believe that the market is going to pick up, albeit slowly.
They announced that gross house lending increased in March and mortgage approval figures also rose after falling over the previous three months.
More house sales should mean that prices will rise, leading to greater amounts becoming available for equity release.
