House prices up 9%

There is some very good news for the equity release market as house prices increased by nearly 9 per cent (8.8 per cent) in March and look set to continue rising.
The Assetz House Price Watch shows that house prices rose last month in comparison to March last year, and are now just 7.5 per cent below the October 2007 peak of £215,000 (£215,089).
This means that people taking out an equity release scheme will be able to extract even more value from their house.
There could be further good news around the corner too, with the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) predicting house prices to rise by a further £9,000 this year.
