House prices rise in April

Homeowners entering into equity release schemes will get more money from their house as house prices increased again this month.
Figures from the Nationwide show that prices have risen one per cent from last month, and by 10.5 per cent compared to April 2009.
This bodes well for people wanting to release equity from their home and leaves the price of the average home at just below £168,000 (£167,802).
With pensions being a big political issue at present, it will be reassuring for homeowners that house prices are increasing again, as equity release can make up for any shortfall in government and private pension funding.
