Equity release to solve pensions crisis

Experts have welcomed the new coalition government, but have been urging them to solve the pensions crisis sooner rather than later and need to consider equity release as a solution.
Former government adviser Ros Altmann has praised the appointment of Iain Duncan Smith as Pensions Secretary, due to his background at the Centre for Social Justice.
However, Dr Altmann has called on him to follow through with his pledge to simplify pensions and help bring two million pensioners out of poverty.
Meanwhile, Andrea Rozario, head of equity release body SHIP, hopes that both progressive Conservative and Lib Dem pensions policies go ahead.
"In the run up to voting, SHIP suggested a three-point plan of action - education, communication and co-operation - which we hope that David Cameron and his cabinet will take into account when looking at how to fund Britain's ageing population," commented Ms Rozario.
