Householders may need to release equity from their house to counter Conservative pension plans, which the GMB union call "catastrophic".

Whilst Tory leader David Cameron moved to dispel these worries, older homeowners still have a lot to gain from an equity release scheme, whoever is in power after May the 6th.

All the parties have pledged to re-link pensions with earnings, but Keith Barton, chairman of the Association of Consulting Actuaries has said that their plans are "threadbare at best" and "damaging at worst".

Householders who feel that they need extra cash to top up their pension could opt for a lifetime mortgage or a home reversion plan. They could also check how much money they could extract from their house by using an equity release calculator.ADNFCR-3040-ID-19740631-ADNFCR
