Equity release market remains healthy

More people than ever are discovering equity release as a means to get a bit of extra cash during their retirement.
The research from Hodge Equity Release shows that the number of customers discovering equity release through a financial adviser has risen to 35 per cent in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2008, before the downturn hit.
On top of this, the vast majority (79 per cent) of financial advisers claim that their confidence in advising on equity release schemes has remained unchanged, despite some providers leaving the market due to the recession.
Jon King, of Hodge Equity Release, commented that financial advisers should "praised" for ensuring that the equity release market has remained in good shape and will continue to be in good shape in the future.
