Equity release gets MP backing

Equity release plans could be the answer to UK pensioner's retirement funding problems.

That's according to an all party parliamentary group, which has put the benefits of equity release under the spotlight.

It's claimed these schemes can give pensioners much needed extra cash in their retirement to boost their income by using the value of their property assets.

Andrea Rozario, director general of equity release body SHIP, says there's an "urgent need" to support the equity release market and to get people involved in backing it.

She says the all party parliamentary group produced "some excellent debate, recognising the financial challenges that Britain’s older generations face."
