We've got a quick equity release for the start of the week today.

Last week we brought you news of the seventh annual Scottish Widows UK Pensions Report 2011, that revealed widespread inactivity is still blighting the country.

And today there's been further reaction from a leading personal finance guru on that very subject.

Founder of moneymagpie.com, Jasmine Birtles, thinks that a work pension scheme is the main influence over contributing to a pension or not.

She remarks: "Only those who have got a job where there is a pension [scheme] are probably the only people who are actually doing it."

She argues that older generations are in a more enviable position than young people, as the latter would rather pay off their debts or save for a house instead of putting money towards retirement.
