Equity release scheme for couples

Couples need to talk to each other about their retirement finance options such as an equity release scheme as new research shows that one in three couples do not understand each other's finances.

The study, by Prudential, found that a third of UK couples over 40 risked poverty in old age because they did not discuss their retirement plans and take action accordingly.

It also found that women were even more reluctant to talk about the issue than men, with almost a quarter of women saying that they never discussed retirement finance.
