Over-55s could use an equity release scheme to help plan a fuller retirement as the latest figures show that property prices are continuing to surge in many areas.

The latest figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) demonstrated rising house prices in London, the North West and the South West of the country.

London prices have shown serious resilience in the face of economic turmoil, but it was actually the North West that had the most buoyant property market.
