Homeowners who want to enter into an equity release scheme in the future will be safe in the knowledge that their advisers will be as well qualified as they are today.
This comes as the Financial Services Authority has announced that they may review the qualifications that future equity release advisers take to "ensure examination standards accurately reflect industry roles".
The plan has received the backing of Andrea Rozario, director general of equity release trade body SHIP.
She comments that "qualified financial advisers are invaluable to the equity release industry" and how the qualification reviews will reassure customers that they are getting the best service possible.
People considering a lifetime mortgage or home reversion plan may want to check out an online equity release calculator to see how much money they can extract from their home.
