An equity release scheme may be the answer for people who want a bit of extra cash, but don't want to uproot themselves from their home.

New research from Santander shows that a third of adults still live where they were brought up, whilst two thirds live within 50 miles of their home town.

Nearly four in ten (39 per cent) stated that they wanted to stay near friends and family, which is one of the key reasons to enter into an equity release scheme rather than downsize.

Equity release gives you the best of both worlds – it lets you extract value from your house, whilst staying near your loved ones.

The research shows that people from Northern Ireland are the biggest home lovers, as more than six in ten (61 per cent) still live where they were born.

Yorkshire, the North West and the East Midlands follow with around four people in ten (41, 39, 38 per cent) living in their home town.ADNFCR-3040-ID-19803890-ADNFCR
