Good morning, we have a quick update for you today.
If you are thinking about releasing some cash from your property to fund a few home improvement projects, you could do worse than putting a basement in.
However, many people are put off using equity release to install a basement as it appears both expensive and disruptive, even though it would be ideal for having the family round.
But according to one design expert, it's actually a "relatively easy" process to put an entire new floor in your home and transform the property.
Rosie Caley, design director at BasementWorks, says it's important to consider how much the work will cost and just how much benefit you expect to get from the added space, but the advantages are obvious.
She explains how rather than just getting an extra bathroom or bedroom, installing a basement will "completely change" the way you use your home.
